Choose the right backing for your bonded fabric. The backing layer determines how the fabric feels against the skin, how warm it is, and what garment types it’s best suited for.
Understanding Jersey Backing Fabric
Jersey Backing Fabric (140 GSM) — A soft, lightweight jersey layer bonded to the wool-feel face fabric. Jersey backing fabric provides a smooth, comfortable inner surface that’s ideal for garments worn close to the skin. Perfect for winter coats, jackets, hoodies, and casual outerwear where you want warmth without excessive bulk. The jersey layer also makes the fabric easier to sew and tailor.
Fleece Backing (220 GSM) — A thicker, plush fleece layer bonded to the face fabric for maximum warmth and insulation. Fleece backing adds significant thickness and softness, making it the go-to choice for cold-weather outerwear, winter accessories, and garments designed for extreme comfort. The 220 GSM fleece layer provides excellent heat retention while remaining breathable.
